Saturday we celebrated Berto's birthday with a party at a local "Sala de Cumpleanos" Since the weather can be iffy, we thought it best to go with a place with lots of inside play things. Good luck shone our way with a beautiful day. The kids started outside and then moved on inside for the trampoline, inflatable slide (Papa liked that toy), foozball table and lots more. Our friends Tia Margot and Laura came along as invaluable cultural and linguistic translators. Happy birthday was sung in Spanish and then English. Quite a few of the parents sang along on the English. I think they've been holding out on us! As is the custom, each kid went home with a "sorpresa" good bag. Since we are Gringo geeks, we included in the sorpresa bags English language books. Good thing Margot drove her SUV because with all the presents Berto got, there was barely room for us to get back home.
We did chuckle at one thing. We keep arriving "on gringo time" for events and being very early. So when we rolled into the party space at 2:09 for a 2:00 party I thought we would be "Chilean early". Weren't we surprised to see 3 families waiting for us. Turns out they figured they would go on "gringo time" for the gringo's party. Oh well, if that is the only mix up, it is a good day!
I'm just catching up on your blog, and it seems that it's just party, party, party down there! What fun!
